In 1991, a handful of leisure-centre managers in the Midlands ran the UK's first ever multi-division 5-a-side league. Three decades later we're the largest grassroots football operator in the world — but the ethos hasn't changed: fair, fun, fiercely competitive football for anyone who wants to play.

1980s
The Beginning
Sport facility managers begin running the first multi-division 5-a-side leagues in sports halls in the UK.
1991
Forerunner Founded
These leisure managers set up the forerunner of Leisure Leagues, operating 5-a-side leagues in the Midlands.
1997
Astroturf
The first 6-a-side astroturf leagues begin in Staffordshire on sand-based astroturfs — a step-change for grassroots football.
1998
Allstars
The Leisure Leagues Allstars are formed — the best 5-a-side players from the UK grouped together playing challenge matches across Britain.
2004
Coventry HQ
Leisure Leagues moves into a large new office on the outskirts of Coventry and employs over 100 people.
2005
100 Leagues
Reach over 100 leagues in the UK. A fleet of vans is purchased for staff to service leagues up and down the country.
